Modification in Existing FLRS for +F Logo Endorsement
Food fortification also known as food enrichment is when nutrients are added to food at higher levels than what the original food provides. Fortification of processed staple foods is a simple, affordable and viable approach to reach large sections of a country’s population with iron, folic acid, and other essential micronutrients.
On the 2nd August, 2018 FFSAI has come up with Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Regulations, 2018 with mandatory fortification standards.
With respect to the endorsement of the fortified foods (+F) in FSSAI license through online Food Licensing and Registration system (FLRS) shall be available to those FBO’s who have FSSAI License for manufacturing/processing Kind of Business in the followed listed food product categories: –
- Salt
Food Product Category: 12 Salts, spices, soups, sauces, salads and protein products
Sub category: 12.1 Salt and salt substitutes
12.1.1 Salt (including edible common salt, iron fortified salt, iodized salt.
- Oil
Food Product Category: 02 Fats and Oils and Fat Emulsions
Sub-category-0.2.1 Fats and oils essentially free from water
Sub-category- 02.1.2 Vegetable oils and fats
- Milk
Food Product Category: 01 (Dairy Products and analogues, excluding products of food category 2.0)
Sub-category-01.1 (Milk and dairy based drinks)
Sub-category- 01.1.1 (Milk and Buttermilk (Plain)]
Sub-category- 01.1.1.1 (Milk(plain))
- Rice wheat flour and Maida
Food Product Category: 06 (Dairy Products and analogues, excluding products of food category 2.0)
Sub-category-01.1 (Milk and dairy based drinks)
Sub-category- 01.1.1 (Milk and Buttermilk (Plain)]
Sub-category- 01.1.1.1 (Milk(plain))
All fortified foods shall have a logo and must carry a tagline “Sampoorna Poshan Swasth Jeevan”.

The Food Safety and Standard authority of India in a letter notified on May 13 ,2019 that the endorsement of the fortified foods can be done through the online FLRS portal by the FBO’s for the commodities mentioned above. It is mandatory to upload the Commodity Test Reports from a notified FSSAI lab to substantiate the claims made for the fortification of the product.
FSSAI also notifies that the Endorsement certificates for the fortified foods will be auto generated and the process for doing the same can be found on the FLRS home page. For the FBO’s who have applied for endorsement prior to this notification must also upload their Commodity Test Reports.
Fortified foods is the peak requirement of the times to provide easy micronutrients in daily diet of consumers.
